I got inspired by the Smashwords Summer sale and set all of my novels to free for the month of July. Get them while they’re hot — I may come to my senses soon. 🙂 Link is here.
My only request is that you review them. Does not have to be a written review. A rating on Smashwords or Goodreads, or both would be much appreciated, although if you have any words of encouragement or advice for betterment, those are always welcome too.
My divorce and my day job (now that I’m the sole supporter of my teenage daughters) is still sucking most of my time. Looking forward to the day when I have the energy and space to spend my time writing.
So far my year has been extremely busy. My day job is taking a ton of time and energy, but I like it and it pays well which is good, because it looks like I’ll be putting the kids through college on my own.
I’m making some other positive changes that are difficult but for the best in the long run. However, I’m not spending nearly as much time writing as I’d like to be or feel I should be.
It’s surprising how easily I get discouraged. I think, “What’s the point? No one’s reading my stuff and it’s not all that good anyway.” Then I just got an email from a fan who wanted to know what else I’d written other than Rough Boys, because she wants more. When I was sending her the link to The Valjevo Encounter on Amazon, I noticed there were a couple glowing reviews of it up there. So maybe I do have something to offer and should get back to it. Just need a kick in the pants. :-).
In case you follow me on Goodreads and are wondering why I’m suddenly reviewing so many stories it’s because one of my goals for the year is to leave a written review for every story that gets a 5-star rating from me. That includes ones I read and rated a while back, so I’m going through my old 5* reads and making sure they all get reviews. And in many cases, I’m rereading the stories–what fun! So if you want to know what I like to read and why, follow me on Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/7278231.J_Vaughn.
I have started working on the sequel to Christmas in Zonei, but I’m not ready to start publishing it here quite yet. I want to make sure I know where I’m going with it before I suck anyone in.
Hope you are all having a wonderful 2016.
Just posted the last chapter of Christmas in Zonei. I’d love to hear what you think.
And yes, I hadn’t originally planned on it, but there will be a sequel.
Bonus!! I’ve posted a new picture on the pictures page of my site. I’d love to find out what you think of that too.
I wish everyone a wonderful, relaxing, joyous holiday season.
It’s short but sweet. Enjoy.
Getting very close to the end of this novel. 🙂
I am so sorry it’s taken me so very long to publish this next chapter of Christmas in Zonei. I am, hopefully, back to writing steadily again. My job crisis finally seems to be over. The divorce is still dragging on with no quick end in sight, but at least the ball is in motion, so slow, expensive progress is being made on that front.
I am excited to be waking up and writing again in the morning. I should be finishing Christmas in Zonei well before Christmas. 🙂
So sorry I haven’t posted in such a long time.
I guess I’m stuck — so close to the end too. I finished Chapter 19, but I’m not sure I’m happy with it, and Chapter 20, which should be the last, I haven’t been able to write more than three words a week on. I thought I knew how it was going to end, but now that I’m there, I don’t like the ending, so I’m still dwelling on it. (and dwelling and dwelling).
Meanwhile I’ve been pouring all of my energy into my day job because I almost lost it and I’m a single mother living paycheck to paycheck, so a bit panicked about possibly being unemployed. Things should settle down in a month or so there, but that’s been a huge distraction as well.
I know… “Excuses, excuses.”
I’m also looking for another beta reader. If you’re interested, shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I hope to finish up and post soon, but I won’t give a timeframe because I just don’t know. I do think that once I’m unstuck I’ll finish very quickly.
Thanks everyone for the comments and questions.
It’s a tease. Let me know what you think of it.
Thanks for your patience — or at least for not expressing too much impatience. 🙂
